Hajia Samira Bawumia, wife of the Vice President, has called on Zongo communities to provide unwavering support to her husband and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming December general elections. Speaking at a Ramadan conference in Kumasi, she emphasized that re-electing her husband, Dr Bawumia, and the NPP was crucial for sustaining the ongoing socio-economic transformation in Zongo communities and across the country.
Highlighting the NPP government's initiatives since 2017 to empower Zongo communities and enhance living standards, Hajia Samira Bawumia stressed the importance of continuing these efforts under Dr. Bawumia's leadership. She urged Zongo residents to lead the charge in retaining the NPP to ensure the continuation of the transformation agenda.
Recognizing the significant role of Muslim women clerics and queen mothers in national development, she encouraged them to advocate for peace and support Dr. Bawumia's candidacy. She portrayed Dr. Bawumia as a capable leader from the Zongo communities, poised to drive positive change not only locally but also nationally.
Furthermore, she underscored the importance of education, especially for girls, in securing a brighter future. Drawing from her personal experience, she highlighted education as a transformative tool that had propelled her to her current position.
Dr. Abdullah Banda, chairman of the Hajj Board, echoed the call for support, urging Zongo communities to vote overwhelmingly for Dr Mahmudu Bawumia in the December elections. He emphasized the NPP's commitment to the welfare of Zongo communities and urged them to embrace Dr. Bawumia's candidacy for the presidency.
