Mr. Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, an independent candidate in the upcoming bye-election in the Ejisu Constituency, has refuted claims of colluding with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). In a press conference held in Ejisu on Friday, Mr. Aduomi's campaign team dismissed allegations from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) suggesting his ties with the NDC.
The campaign team emphasized that Mr. Aduomi's candidacy is independent of any party influence and asserted that the NPP's accusations stem from their recognition of the slim chances their own candidate faces in the election. Mr. Aduomi, a former Member of Parliament for Ejisu under the NPP, is running as an independent candidate in the bye-election.
Accusations were leveled against the NPP by Mr. Isaac Boafo, the Campaign Coordinator for Mr. Aduomi, who highlighted alleged schemes by the NPP, the Electoral Commission, and certain government officials to sway the election in favor of the NPP's candidate, Mr. Kwabena Boateng.
Of particular concern was the claim that 500 Senior High School students from outside the constituency were to be transported to vote. Mr. Boafo issued a stern warning to the NPP, asserting their commitment to fiercely defend their ballots against any attempts at interference.
As the bye-election approaches, tensions are mounting, with both sides fiercely contesting for victory. The outcome of the election on Tuesday will be closely watched, with stakeholders keen to ensure a free, fair, and transparent electoral process.
