In the ongoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) primary elections in the Navrongo Central and Chiana-Paga constituencies of the Upper East Region, only presidential candidates Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong had polling agents present.
This was in stark contrast to their contenders, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto and Mr Francis Addai Nimoh, who had no polling agents on site.
In the Navrongo Central Constituency, both Dr Bawumia and Mr Agyapong had two polling agents each, while the election process continued smoothly despite the absence of polling agents for their rivals.
The Navrongo Central constituency saw 660 out of 686 delegates cast their votes as of 12:30 p.m.
Madam Tangoba Abayage, the former Upper East Regional Minister, visited the polling centre and commended both the Electoral Commission (EC) and the delegates for their conduct.
She expressed satisfaction with the process, which proceeded without any notable incidents.
Several NPP parliamentary aspirants also visited the centre and praised the peaceful and orderly nature of the process.
Alhaj Abdallah Otito Achuliwor, one of the aspirants, reported a 100% voter turnout and expressed confidence in the overall process.
Mr Perry Adamba, another parliamentary aspirant, called on the delegates to maintain their composure during the vote-counting process and unite behind the chosen candidate to secure victory in the upcoming 2024 elections.
