Smooth progress reported as voter registration begins in Wa Municipality

The limited voter registration exercise conducted by the (EC) in the Municipality has seen smooth progress, with no reported hitches as of the time of visitation by the (GNA). At approximately 13:48 hours, 33 individuals had successfully registered at the Municipal office of the EC, with long queues observed at the registration centre.

Mr. Ben Alaglo, the Wa Municipal Director of the EC, informed the GNA that although the registration commenced at 07:00 hours, the first registrant's data took about two hours to enter the system. However, he ensured that all machines were functioning smoothly, and all necessary registration materials were readily available, ensuring the seamless conduct of the exercise.

Alaglo emphasized that there was no pressure on the registration team, as the environment remained calm. Additionally, he disclosed that the EC had prepared for potential power outages by providing a standby generator to prevent disruptions to the registration process.

Furthermore, Alaglo confirmed that registration centres at the Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University and the SD Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies had also not encountered any challenges thus far.

Security measures were visibly in place, with personnel from the present at the registration centre to ensure an incident-free exercise.

Feedback from registrants, particularly students at the registration centre, indicated satisfaction with the smoothness of the process. Their positive experiences underscored the effective organization and execution of the voter registration exercise in the Wa Municipality.
