The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that it has successfully resolved the technical glitches that initially hindered the smooth commencement of the limited voter registration exercise. Mr. Eric Dzakpasu, the Volta Regional Director of the EC, informed the Ghana News Agency that all 18 district offices, along with 18 mobile teams and two additional centers established at the University of Health and Allied Science and Ho Technical University, have resumed registration activities in the region.
To ensure accessibility to all electoral areas, six permanent district offices have been designated. Furthermore, some districts, such as Ketu South, Ho, Hohoe, North Tongu, and South Tongu, have been categorized into three teams to facilitate the registration process. Additionally, Agotime Ziope and Akatsi South have two teams each, while the remaining districts operate with one team for the entirety of the 21-day registration period.
Mr. Michael Boadu, the acting Director of Public Affairs of the EC, confirmed in an earlier release that the initial challenges have been addressed, and the registration systems are now functioning smoothly nationwide. He urged prospective registrants to participate actively in the exercise.
The limited voter registration exercise commenced on Tuesday, May 7, and is scheduled to conclude on May 27, providing an opportunity for new applicants to be captured on the electoral roll ahead of the December elections.
