Mr. Bernard Aborkugya Mensah, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Krachi East, has tragically passed away after serving a year in office.
According to a source from the Ghana News Agency, the MCE collapsed while delivering a matriculation speech at the Dambai College of Education on Friday morning. He was promptly rushed to the Dambai Health Centre for urgent medical attention.
Despite efforts to stabilize him, Mr. Mensah was transferred to the WoraWora Government Hospital for further treatment. Regrettably, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the facility. Hospital authorities have refrained from providing further details regarding the incident.
Confirming the unfortunate event, Mr. Kingsley Okuneggy, the Communication Officer of the Krachi East New Patriotic Party, acknowledged the incident on the party’s platform.
Mr. Mensah, aged 60, was appointed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to assume the position following the demise of the former MCE, Francis Kofi Okesu, in September 2022. Prior to his appointment, he served as the Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party in the Krachi East Municipality.
The sudden loss of Mr. Mensah has deeply affected his family, as it was reported that his wife also collapsed upon hearing the news and is currently receiving medical care at the same facility in WoraWora.
The passing of Mr. Mensah has left the community in shock and mourning, as tributes pour in for his dedicated service and commitment to the development of Krachi East Municipality.
