Nation mourns as Ghana bids farewell to Wofa K.K at solemn State House ceremony

The nation of Ghana stood still as scores of mourners gathered at the Forecourt of the State House to pay their final respects to Martin Kwabena Kwakye, widely known as ‘Wofa K.K'. The beloved Director of Oman FM at Kencity Media Limited passed away unexpectedly on February 14, 2024, after collapsing at his workplace.

From as early as 5:00 AM, sympathizers, including friends, family, and fans, arrived at the venue, eager to secure a spot to honour the respected journalist whose vibrant voice and insightful commentary on political affairs had become a staple in many homes.

The ceremony was deeply emotional; the sight of Wofa K.K's body lying in state brought many to tears, underlining the profound impact he had on his listeners and the community. The venue was meticulously decorated, reflecting the high regard in which he was held, with large portraits of Wofa K.K displayed throughout, emphasizing his lasting legacy.

Prominent figures including President Nana Addo Dankwa , Vice President Dr. , and other high-ranking officials and party members from the New Patriotic Party () were present. The funeral also saw a significant turnout from religious leaders, media personnel, and academics, all coming together to pay homage.

Tributes poured in highlighting Wofa K.K's deep faith, altruism, and exemplary human relations. The central message in many eulogies was his selflessness and devotion to God, traits that Bishop Boakye Acheampong of the Resurrection Power and Living Bread Ministries International echoed during his sermon, calling on attendees to prioritize their spiritual lives.

The procession to Sekyere Kwaman Cemetery in the , where Wofa K.K was interred, was marked by profound sorrow as family and friends surrounded the hearse, their grief palpable.

Wofa K.K leaves behind a legacy as a pioneering journalist with more than two decades of experience, a loving husband, and a father to four children. His untimely departure is not just a loss to his family but to the entire nation that followed and revered his work.
