Mr. Wisdom Sitsose Asamoah, the Senior Housemaster of Prampram Senior High School, has raised concerns over the inadequate infrastructure and the discontinuation of construction work on several classroom blocks within the school premises.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr. Asamoah highlighted the pressing issue of insufficient classrooms and dormitories, which severely impede the teaching and learning process at the school. The lack of adequate infrastructure has resulted in overcrowding in dormitories, exacerbating the challenges faced by both students and teachers.
Mr. Asamoah expressed worry about the adverse effects of congestion in dormitories, citing instances of students contracting skin diseases such as heat rashes and other infectious illnesses, particularly among female students.
Moreover, he lamented the presence of several unfinished construction projects on the school grounds, including an incomplete kitchen complex, dining hall, and assembly hall complex. These abandoned projects have remained stagnant for years, further exacerbating the infrastructure deficit at the school.
In light of these challenges, Mr. Asamoah made a fervent appeal to the government, the Ministry of Education, as well as non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and philanthropic institutions, to intervene and support the school in completing these essential infrastructure projects. He emphasized the urgent need for additional classrooms and dormitories to accommodate the growing student population adequately.
