Opoku-Ahweneeh Danquah, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), has tendered his resignation from his position. In a letter addressed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Danquah expressed his respect for the office of the President while announcing his decision to step down from his role at GNPC.
During his tenure, Danquah highlighted his efforts to implement transformative policies aimed at advancing the interests of the nation and fostering sustainable growth and development within GNPC. He described his time as CEO as an honour and emphasized his dedication to the evolution of Ghana's energy sector.
However, Danquah noted that an atmosphere of misinformation and misunderstanding surrounding the policies he championed made it increasingly challenging for him to continue effectively in his role. Despite his earnest efforts to uphold GNPC's integrity and objectives, he acknowledged that certain misperceptions had clouded judgment and undermined trust.
Danquah stressed the importance of unwavering support and trust from all stakeholders for GNPC to thrive and fulfill its mandate effectively.
In his letter to the President, Danquah expressed gratitude for the guidance provided by President Akufo-Addo and the support of the talented team at GNPC. He stated, “I am truly grateful for the opportunities that I have been afforded.”
Danquah also reassured his commitment to the progress and prosperity of Ghana, standing ready to support any transition efforts deemed necessary by the administration.
