Pretoria, South Africa – The High Commission of the Republic of Ghana in Pretoria has issued a notice to the Ghanaian community in South Africa regarding a concerning incident that took place on October 29, 2023.
During a church service at the Johannesburg branch of the Ghanaian Church of Pentecost, members of the congregation were robbed at gunpoint, and a Deacon of the church was kidnapped.
The High Commission is actively working with the Church, in collaboration with the South Africa Police Service (SAPS), to ensure the safe and speedy release of the kidnapped victim and his return to his family.
The South African Police Service is fully engaged in the case and is making efforts to secure the safe return of the Ghanaian Deacon.
The High Commission advises all members of the Ghanaian community in South Africa to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and well-being.
