Former Black Stars Captain, Stephen Appiah, has demonstrated his support for the J.A Kufuor Cup by purchasing a total of 1000 tickets for the upcoming match between Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC. The game, scheduled for Sunday, February 18, 2024, is part of the efforts by the John Agyekum Kufuor Foundation to raise funds and honour the legacy of the former President.
Speaking at the unveiling of the J.A Kufuor Cup, Appiah expressed his gratitude to President Kufuor for his significant contributions to sports development during his tenure. He recalled President Kufuor's instrumental role in Ghana's football success, particularly in securing the Black Stars' qualification for their first World Cup tournament.
Appiah highlighted the friendly relationship built between President Kufuor and the Black Stars, which motivated the team to perform exceptionally well both on the continent and on the global stage. As a gesture of appreciation and support, he pledged to purchase 1000 tickets for the match, echoing the support he received from President Kufuor during his time as captain of the national team.
Appiah concluded by wishing both Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC good luck for the highly-anticipated clash at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
