Mr Yakubu Faharudeen, an aspiring General Secretary for the People's National Convention (PNC), has pledged to rejuvenate the party and reintegrate numerous inactive members if given the opportunity.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Faharudeen emphasized the importance of bringing back dormant members to enhance the party's chances in the upcoming December 7, 2024, general election. He identified disunity and resource constraints within the party as factors contributing to the loss of vibrant members to other political parties.
Mr. Faharudeen, currently serving as the Deputy General Secretary, highlighted his commitment to leveraging his experience and relationships within the party to mobilize support and utilize resources efficiently. He emphasized the need to regain lost parliamentary seats and strengthen the party's presence across Ghana.
Acknowledging the challenge of monetization in Ghanaian politics, Mr Faharudeen underscored the PNC's role as a beacon for developmental ideas and deplored the influence of money in elections. He expressed determination to address this issue and promote politics driven by ideas rather than financial incentives.
As a native of the northern part of Ghana proficient in various southern languages, Mr Faharudeen emphasized the importance of cultural and linguistic diversity within the party. He highlighted his ability to connect with voters across different regions and communities, positioning himself as a unifying figure within the PNC.
Mr. Faharudeen outlined his vision for the party's future, including initiatives to engage zongo communities and celebrate the party's anniversary. He exuded confidence in leading the PNC to success in the 2024 election, pledging to challenge the dominance of the two major parties and usher in a new era for Ghanaian politics.
