The New Patriotic Party () holds its parliamentary primaries in constituencies where it holds representation in . However, Deputy General Secretary of the , Haruna Mohammed, revealed that elections in four constituencies have been suspended due to ongoing legal processes.

In an interview with Selorm Adonoo on Eyewitness News on Citi FM, Haruna Mohammed provided insights into the status of the primaries. Out of the initial 104 constituencies set for Saturday's primaries, four have been put on hold due to legal challenges.

“We have 104 constituencies where there are going to be competitions, and there are 33 constituencies that are going for acclamation, so if you put them all together, we have 137. Out of the 104, we have put on hold, we have also put on hold because of court issues, Mampong has also been put on hold because of court issues, and I am getting information that also has court issues, and that will also be put on hold, and that makes it four constituencies that will not have contests,” explained Haruna Mohammed.

Despite the suspensions, Haruna Mohammed emphasized that the party has taken all necessary measures to ensure a smooth and peaceful process. Electoral materials have been handed over to the , and security details have been provided to the to maintain order during the elections.

“We have done everything possible to ensure that we have a smooth exercise,” added Haruna Mohammed. The NPP aims to conduct fair and transparent primaries in the constituencies where contests are scheduled to take place.
