Nigeria secured gold over Ghana in both the men's and women's 4×100 relay events. The men's final saw Nigeria narrowly edging out Ghana to claim gold with a time of 38.41s, while Ghana settled for silver at 38.43s. Liberia took the bronze, setting a new national record of 38.73s. Despite a strong effort from Ghana's quartet, including Benjamin Azamati, Joe Paul Amoah, Edwin Gadayi, and Solomon Hammond, issues with baton changes proved costly.
Ghana's men's quartet, despite the loss, still holds the record for the fastest 4×100 relay time at the African Games, set at 38.30s in Rabat in 2019. In the women's 4×100 race, Nigeria secured another gold medal with an impressive time of 43.05s, followed by Liberia with silver. Ghana's quartet, featuring Ololade Abinusawa, Amusan Oluwatobiloba, Justina Tiana, and Olajide Olayinka, showed explosive speed in the finals but settled for bronze. Despite being favourites for gold, Ghana's quartet of Boakye Mary, Mensah Janet, Mensah Doris, and Hor Halutie had to settle for third place with a time of 44.21s.
This brings Ghana's medal count in track and field events to three, with Rose Yeboah securing gold in the women's high jump competition.
