Samuel Abu Jinapor, Member of Parliament for the Damongo Constituency and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, has strongly criticized former President John Mahama's proposal for a 24-hour economy, questioning its feasibility based on past records.
Jinapor highlighted the incompetence of the previous government, led by Mahama, in handling the country's electricity supply, which resulted in erratic power outages and the collapse of numerous daytime businesses. He emphasized that Mahama's inability to maintain a stable daytime economy raises doubts about his ability to implement a 24-hour economy.
The Minister pointed out the irony of Mahama's proposition, stating, “How then are you going to provide a 24-hour economy when you could not provide a day economy?”
Expressing skepticism about the National Democratic Congress's (NDC) promotion of a 24-hour economy, Jinapor criticized the party for failing to articulate what this concept entails. He emphasized the importance of technology, digitization, and digitalization in contemporary development and praised Vice President Dr. Bawumia for championing policies aimed at advancing Ghana's development.
Jinapor urged Ghanaians to support the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Dr. Bawumia, highlighting the government's progressive policies and casting doubt on the NDC's ability to deliver on its promises.
The Minister made these remarks during a ceremony in Damongo, where he was acclaimed as the NPP's Parliamentary Candidate for the Damongo Constituency. The event, attended by various dignitaries, underscored Jinapor's call for massive support for Dr. Bawumia in the upcoming elections, citing the Vice President's clear policy propositions for Ghana's advancement.
