Keta NDC primary: Appeals committee petitioned over Dr Jones Mensah’s eligibility

Dr Senanu Djokoto, a parliamentary aspirant in the upcoming primary, has petitioned the appeals committee over the clearance of Dr Emmanuel Jones Mensah, another aspirant, to contest.

Dr Djokoto is alleging that Dr Mensah did not meet the mandatory requirements of Regulation 2.1(III) of the Guidelines for clearing parliamentary candidates for the 2024 general election.

Dr Djokoto believes that the vetting committee made an error in accepting a letter from Dr Mensah dissociating himself from fraudulent registration conduct at Ashiaman. He argues that the investigation into the alleged membership of Dr Mensah was inconclusive, and the committee did not authenticate the said alleged membership.

In a petition to the appeals committee, Dr Djokoto said that he had dutifully served the NDC in the Constituency and was aware that most members and executives valued truth, honesty and integrity, hence the need for a fair and just resolution of the matter.

He further stated that any decision on Dr Jones Mensah's eligibility or otherwise “may adversely affect me as a candidate in the election,” and requested the appeals committee to address the matter to prevent any legal tussle.
