Elyasah Mahama, the former Human Resource (HR) Officer of the Royal Cosy Hills Hotel, has been apprehended by the police in connection with the brutal murder of the facility's Chief Executive Officer.
Mr Mahama was reportedly found at a hideout in Takoradi and was subsequently airlifted to Wa for interrogation on a commercial flight.
Reports suggest that Mahama was terminated from his position by Mr. Eric Johnson, the victim, just three days before the tragic incident occurred.
Following the murder, Mahama allegedly left the Jirapa township and was later traced to Takoradi, where he was apprehended by law enforcement authorities.
After initial interrogation in Wa, Mahama was sent back to Takoradi for further questioning before ultimately being returned to Wa.
With Mahama's arrest, the total number of individuals apprehended in connection with the CEO's murder has now reached eight.
Background information reveals that the businessman was discovered dead in his private residence, surrounded by blood, on Sunday, February 11. The assailant(s) reportedly gained access to his room using a ladder and a master card.
The deceased, who had just finished bathing, was found with deep wounds on his body, suggesting a violent attack.
Furthermore, the perpetrator(s) drove the victim's car out of the compound but later abandoned it in town.
Seven other individuals have been detained for questioning regarding the murder. The Wa Magistrate Court has remanded five suspects, while two have been granted bail.
Investigations into the case are ongoing, with the Regional Crime Scene Management Team examining the incident site to gather further evidence.
