Media personality Nana Aba Anamoah has delivered a strong message to young women, urging them to resist succumbing to sexual advances from men in exchange for job opportunities or career advancement. Speaking on 3Music TV, she emphasized that such compromises not only result in women being taken advantage of but also undermine their dignity and self-respect.
Nana Aba highlighted the misconception that some men believe leveraging power through such means is acceptable. She advised young women caught in such situations, stating, “If you are a young girl and you are caught up in that situation, I'll say to you, do not have sex with a man.”
She shared a conversation with a young girl who believed that engaging in such actions discreetly would not harm her. Nana Aba countered this perspective, emphasizing that compromising one's dignity for opportunities jeopardizes self-esteem.
While she acknowledged that she has never personally experienced such ultimatums in the workplace, Miss Anamoah asserted that it is in the best interest of any woman in such a situation to avoid risking it.
Addressing the tendency to blame young women for such predicaments, she asserted, “It is not their fault,” emphasizing that the blame lies with individuals who harbour inappropriate intentions.
While recognizing the challenges young women may face in pursuit of jobs and financial stability, Nana Aba strongly emphasized that exchanging sex for a job is not an acceptable approach. She encouraged women to navigate their careers with integrity and self-respect, even in the face of adversity.
