Former First Lady of Ghana, Theresa Kufuor, has passed away at the age of 87.
She was the wife of former President John Agyekum Kufuor, who served as the second President of the Fourth Republic of Ghana.
A family source confirmed the sad news on Sunday, October 1, 2023, stating that Mrs. Theresa Kufuor passed away peacefully at her home in the Peduase area on the Aburi mountain.

Theresa Kufuor, born on October 25, 1935, was a retired nurse and midwife who spent a significant part of her life in the United Kingdom.
She pursued her nursing and midwifery education at prestigious institutions, including the Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford and Paddington General Hospital in London, where she qualified as a State Certified Midwife with a Certificate in Premature Nursing.
Before her marriage to John Kufuor in 1962, she was known as Theresa Mensah and was the youngest child in her family.
Her elder brother was the late NPP stalwart, J.H. Mensah.
Theresa began her education at the Catholic Convent in Keta, Volta Region, Ghana, and later continued her studies in London, becoming a Registered Nurse after completing her education at the Southern Hospital Group of Nursing in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Mrs. Kufuor's marriage to John Kufuor marked the beginning of a lifelong partnership that spanned 61 years. The couple had five children together.
She served as the First Lady of Ghana for eight years, from January 7, 2001, to January 6, 2009, during her husband's presidency.
