Mr. Andrews Mensah, the Bono Regional Coordinating Director, has urged for investment in the clay, quarry, cashew, and poultry sectors in the region to stimulate job creation and alleviate poverty.
Addressing the closing session of a four-day cashew apple recipe training organized for women farmers and youth in cashew production, Mr. Mensah highlighted the vast economic potential of these sectors. He emphasized the need for exposure of these opportunities to attract foreign investors, particularly calling on the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) to support in this endeavour.
The training, organized by MOVE-ComCashew with support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-financed by the European Union (EU), aimed to equip 80 women cashew farmers and youth from various districts and municipalities with skills in harnessing the potential of cashew apples.
Participants were trained in harvesting, post-harvest techniques, nutrition of cashew apples, and preparation of various recipes to add value to the produce. Mr. Mensah expressed gratitude for the contributions of GIZ and its partners towards job creation in the region, hoping for similar support to tap into the region's economic prospects.
Madam Ernestina Amponsah, Technical Advisor of MOVE-ComCashew, urged participants to apply the knowledge gained to bring about positive change in their economic activities.
