A three-story building in Winneba, located in the Efutu Municipality of the Central Region, has collapsed, fortunately without any casualties.
According to Kofi Adjei from Adom News, all 15 tenants who were occupying the building at the time of the incident have been safely accounted for.
DO2 Kwesi Hugues, the Winneba Municipal Fire Service Commander, disclosed that they received a distress call reporting the collapse of a three-story building with tenants inside.
In an interview with Adom News, DO2 Hugues explained that upon their arrival at the scene, all the tenants managed to escape the building, but they were unable to retrieve their belongings.
Preliminary investigations conducted by the authorities indicate that the building was constructed in a waterlogged area and that the owner failed to use quality materials.
DO2 Hugues emphasized the importance of conducting proper assessments of land before purchasing, urging Ghanaians to refrain from buying land during the dry season to avoid potential risks.
He also advised individuals to conduct visibility studies and assessments before renting or occupying any property.
