The Public Sitting on the Special Committee established to investigate the petition filed by customers of Blackshield Capital Ltd (formerly Gold Coast Fund Management) is set to begin on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. The sitting, scheduled to commence at 1 pm, will be chaired by Hon. Joe Ghartey.
The establishment of the Special Committee by Parliament on December 6, 2023, came in response to a petition submitted on November 17, 2023, by Hon. Mahama Ayariga on behalf of five aggrieved members of Blackshield Capital Ltd. The petitioners seek an explanation for the alleged failure of the government to pay the investment of sixty-one thousand former customers of Blackshield Capital Ltd.
The committee, composed of Hon. Joe Ghartey as Chairman, Hon. Edwin Nil Lantey Vanderpuye, Hon. Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh, Hon. Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui, and Hon. Dr. Benjamin Yeboah Sekyere as members, will conduct the public sitting. The petitioners, as well as representatives from the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Ministry of Finance, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, and the Registrar of Companies, are expected to appear before the Special Committee.
The Public Sitting is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at 1 pm, with Mr. Louis Yiadom serving as the Clerk to the Committee. Dr. Theophilus Acheampong and Mr. Antonio Kesse will assist the committee as experts.
