Madam Mary Magdalene Wompakeah, the Nabdam District Director of Education, has urged major stakeholders to collaborate in securing lands belonging to schools in the district. She expressed concern over the increasing encroachment on school lands, noting the difficulty faced by the Directorate in addressing these issues.
Madam Wompakeah made a special appeal to the paramount chiefs, sub-chiefs, and the District Assembly to take urgent action to address the challenge. She emphasized the importance of demarcating and documenting all school lands to facilitate future expansion and ensure access to education for the growing population.
Highlighting the district's growth, Madam Wompakeah stressed the need to expand schools to accommodate the rising number of students. However, she warned that encroachment could hinder this expansion and hinder educational progress if not addressed promptly.
With only one public senior high school in the district, Madam Wompakeah emphasized the necessity of establishing additional second-cycle institutions, particularly technical or vocational schools, to provide youth with employable skills and contribute to national development while curbing social vices.
She concluded by passionately appealing to the government to absorb the Sakoti Methodist Senior High Technical School and provide the necessary resources to ensure its proper use.
