Dr. Godfred Seidu Jasaw, Member of Parliament for the Wa East constituency, has collaborated with the West Africa Humanitarian Agency, a Turkey-based NGO, to organize a free health screening and treatment initiative focused on hernia conditions for his constituents.
The screening, held at the Wa Municipal Hospital, saw 137 individuals, including children, undergo assessment, with 60 diagnosed with a hernia. Subsequently, the affected individuals received surgical treatment from a team of medical professionals from the NGO.
Dr Jasaw expressed gratitude to the NGO for its commitment to improving the health of the people in his constituency. He highlighted the importance of such interventions, particularly for individuals who have been living with hernia conditions for years without access to proper medical care due to financial constraints.
Recognizing that the government alone cannot meet all healthcare needs, Dr. Jasaw emphasized the significance of collaboration with stakeholders and organizations to achieve a healthy population.
He appealed to other NGOs and philanthropic organizations to emulate the Turkey-based NGO's gesture by supporting health initiatives in the area.
Beneficiaries of the initiative expressed appreciation to Dr Jasaw and the NGO for their intervention, stating that it brought relief to them and their families. They hoped for similar initiatives in the future.
Dr. Ahmed Boyelle, overseeing the operations at the hospital, reported that the patients were doing well post-operation, with some already discharged. He emphasized the importance of timely intervention in healthcare, urging the public not to wait until conditions become critical before seeking medical attention.
