During a courtesy call on Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia palace, the Minister of Finance designate, Mr Mohammed Amin Adam, pledged to mobilize resources to complete all ongoing development projects in the Ashanti region. He emphasized the region's crucial role in Ghana's socio-economic development and highlighted President Nana Akufo-Addo's directive to ensure the completion of various projects in the region.
Among the projects mentioned was the maternal and child unit at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), several road projects including the Suame interchange, the Kumasi Central Market, and the Kumasi International Airport. Mr Amin Adam underscored the importance of providing the region with the necessary infrastructure to attract investment and foster economic growth.
He commended Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his significant contributions to the country's development, particularly in education, health, investment, and diplomatic initiatives, which have enhanced Ghana's global image. Mr. Amin Adam expressed his commitment to seek wise counsel from the Asantehene in the discharge of his duties.
In response, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II congratulated Mr Amin Adam on his new role, expressing confidence in his ability to manage the Finance Ministry effectively. Despite the country facing challenges, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II urged the Minister to identify weaknesses in the Ghanaian economy and collaborate with key stakeholders to address them. He expressed optimism that with efficient policies and strategies, Ghana could overcome its current difficulties.
Accompanied by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Simon Osei Mensah, Mr. Amin Adam inspected ongoing projects at KATH, Kumasi central market, and the airport, demonstrating his commitment to overseeing the progress of these vital infrastructure developments in the region.
