Dagbon Radio Presenter Attack: Court convicts accused persons

, 10th May 2023 — The Tamale District Court has delivered its verdict in the case of the attack on a radio presenter in Tamale, as the accused persons, Iddrisu Hardi, also known as Pagaaza, and his accomplice, Mumuni Osman, pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit a crime, assault, unlawful entry, and threat of death. The court subsequently convicted the accused and imposed a sentence of a fine or imprisonment.

The incident, which occurred on 3rd May 2023, sparked public outrage, leading to an intensive investigation by the police. Today, the police provided an update on the case, revealing the outcome of their investigation and the subsequent court proceedings.

Both accused persons appeared before the Tamale District Court, where they pleaded guilty to all four counts of charges. Consequently, the court convicted them on their own plea and imposed a fine of Three Thousand, Six Hundred Cedis (GH₵3,600.00) each. The alternative to paying the fine is an 18-month custodial sentence in hard labor.

After the convictions, Iddrisu Hardi and Mumuni Osman fulfilled their financial obligations by paying the fines to the court. As a result, their identities have been disclosed, as they are no longer considered suspects but convicted individuals.
