Apostle Emeritus Professor Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, Founder and Leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana, has emphasized the importance of Ghanaians going back to their roots and embracing the practices of their ancestors.

According to him, the disregard for natural foodstuffs and vegetables from God is the cause of premature deaths among Ghanaians.

During a Sabbath sermon to members of the Mission in Gyinyase, Asokwa Municipality, Apostle Safo pointed out that the negative attitudes towards the environment were causing the current socio-economic woes of the country.

He added that the use of harmful chemicals like weedicides had destroyed the rich and fertile land God gave to Ghanaians, making it difficult for farmers to propagate natural food items like pepper, pawpaw, mushroom, and cocoyam.

“Our ancestors did not destroy the rich and fertile land God gave to them with harmful chemicals like weedicides,” he said.

“These natural and organic food items they consumed gave them a healthy and long life. Today, through the devastation of the land by these harmful weedicides, it is very difficult for a farmer to see the propagation of pepper, pawpaw, mushroom, cocoyam, etc., from the land. We also use harmful pesticides to spray and destroy the natural vegetables God gave to us.”

He added that after engaging in these negative practices against the environment, Ghanaians, especially Christians, turn around and blame God for their sufferings. Apostle Safo stressed that mankind had created its own suffering through its actions and inactions.

“Kindly look at how our actions and inactions have destroyed the rivers, including the fish in them. If you are a Christian and you exhibit such a negative attitude, why do you shift the blame to witches and wizards,” he asked.

Apostle Safo urged Ghanaians to change their ways, pray to God, and ask for forgiveness. He believes that if Ghanaians stop these nefarious activities, God will heal the land and make it fertile and rich as it was in the olden days.

Furthermore, he advised the youth to desist from smoking weed and shisha as it has the tendency to destroy their bodies. He encouraged them to embrace hard work and a respectful attitude to live a successful life.

“Smoking weed and shisha will not give you a successful life. Rather, it will destroy your body,” he warned. “The youth should yearn for hard work and a respectful attitude to live a successful life.”
