Mr. Governs Kwame Agbodza, the Member of Parliament for Adaklu, has announced the construction of a “historical Centre” at Adaklu Waya in the Adaklu district, in collaboration with the German Mission of Germany and the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana. This centre aims to attract both local and international tourists, highlighting Adaklu Waya's significant history as the third missionary station opened by German missionaries in 1856.
In addition to this initiative, Mr Agbodza has contributed over one million Ghana Cedis from personal funds towards building an eight-unit classroom block for the Adaklu Senior High School and plans to allocate part of his MP Common Fund for a community centre in Adaklu Waya.
The district has seen development projects under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's administration, including water project extensions, a nearing completion district hospital, and CHIPS Compounds, as highlighted by Mr. Walter Wogbemase Zuh, Adaklu District Chief Executive. The government's commitment to completing all abandoned projects and the upcoming construction of a bungalow for the DCE and other assembly officers were also noted.
Community unity and participation, especially among the youth, were themes emphasized by local leaders, including Togbe Lablulu Tegbeza V, the Chief of Adaklu Waya. The need for improved town roads and the importance of education as a priority for parents were also discussed.
The fundraising and Easter get-together event also celebrated academic achievements through a quiz competition for local schools, with Adaklu Waya E.P. Basic School emerging victorious.
Funds raised during the event, including significant donations from Mr Agbodza and Mr Zuh, will be directed towards initiating a community centre project for Adaklu Waya, demonstrating a collective effort towards the town's development and preservation of its historical significance.
