The highly anticipated launch of the 25th edition of the Ghana Music Awards (GMA) and the unveiling of nominees is set to take place on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the prestigious Grand Arena, Accra International Conference Centre.
The journey towards this landmark event commenced on January 29, 2024, with a call to the music industry and its stakeholders to submit their works produced between January 1 and December 31, 2023. The response was overwhelming, with thousands of entries pouring in by the closing date of February 29, 2024.
This Thursday, the focus will be on celebrating the 25th anniversary of the awards scheme, reflecting on its significant role since its inception in 2000. The primary objective of the awards remains to identify, recognize, and reward outstanding achievements in the Ghanaian music industry.
The awards scheme comprises an academy, a board of industry experts, and input from the general public, ensuring a comprehensive and inclusive selection process.
One of the highlights of the launch event will be the unveiling of nominees, eagerly awaited by music enthusiasts and industry insiders alike. The nominees, carefully selected by the board, research team, and GMA secretariat through meticulous listening and extensive analysis, represent the best of the best across various music categories.
Unlike in previous years, where nominees were revealed gradually, this year's nominees will be announced in a grand unveiling ceremony during the event.
Furthermore, the evening will be marked by the unveiling of sponsors for the awards, following the recent announcement of the name change from Vodafone to Telecel.
With anticipation building up, the launch of the 25th Ghana Music Awards promises to be a memorable occasion, celebrating the rich talent and creativity within the Ghanaian music industry.
