In the latest 2023 Times Higher Education Rankings, the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has emerged as the leading university in Ghana, securing the top position in both Ghana and West Africa.

Additionally, the UCC has earned the fourth spot among Africa's best universities, further solidifying its reputation on the global stage.

The 2023 Times Higher ranking has also placed the UCC at a commendable 24th position globally for research influence and within the top 400 universities worldwide.

This follows the UCC's remarkable achievement in the 2022 ranking when it was declared the best university in Ghana, West Africa, and the fourth best on the African continent. Notably, it was also named the best university globally for research influence.

The annual Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings (WUR) is celebrated for its prestige, aiming to present a definitive list of the finest universities. These rankings evaluate institutions across five key areas: Teaching, Research, Citations, International Outlook, and Industry Income.

THE is the sole global university ranking that thoroughly assesses research-intensive universities across each of their core missions, including Teaching (the learning environment), Research (volume, income, and reputation), International Outlook (staff, students, and research), Citations (research influence), and Industry Income (knowledge transfer).

THE employs meticulously calibrated performance indicators to offer comprehensive and equitable comparisons.

All data undergo independent auditing by the professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), ensuring that the Times Higher Education World University Rankings are subject to thorough independent scrutiny, setting it apart as the sole globally recognized university ranking that undergoes such scrutiny.
