The Vice Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Professor Abednego Feehi Okoe Amartey, has urged the university's graduates to maintain the institution's values and principles as they venture into their respective careers.
Speaking during the First Session of the 15th congregation of the UPSA, where degrees and diplomas were awarded to graduates from the Law School and the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Studies, Prof. Amartey emphasized the importance of carrying forward the university's rich tradition of producing successful graduates in their chosen fields.
The Vice Chancellor highlighted significant developments within the university during the 2022/2023 academic year, encompassing various aspects such as governance, academic affairs, research, staff and staff development, infrastructure, and security.
Addressing the graduates, Prof. Amartey encouraged them to be courageous, compassionate, and agents of positive change in the world.
He said, “As you embark on this new chapter in your lives, remember the values and principles that UPSA has instilled in you.”
The guest speaker at the event, Mr. Yaw Acheampong Boafo, the President of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), stressed the importance of integrity, honesty, and strong moral principles.
He reminded the graduates that integrity and trust are non-negotiable qualities essential for success in various professional environments.
Dr. Kofi Ohene-Konadu, Chairman of the UPSA Governing Council, advised the graduates to embrace an entrepreneurial spirit and become exemplary ambassadors of the university.
The 15th Congregation of the UPSA will see a total of 4,783 students graduate across multiple sessions.
These graduates consist of 973 postgraduates, 2,969 undergraduates, and 841 diploma students.
The First Session specifically included 1,271 students for graduation, with the Law School presenting 134 students and the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Studies graduating 1,137 students.
The achievements of these graduates span various classes and distinctions, highlighting the diverse talents and capabilities within the UPSA community.
