The management of the Tamale Central Prison recently paid a courtesy visit to Sagnar-Naa Yakubu Abdulai, Paramount Chief of Sagnarigu Traditional Area, at his palace in Sagnarigu, Northern Region.
Led by Deputy Director of Prisons (DDP) Mr. Thompson Otsyokpo, Northern Regional Commander of Prisons, along with other senior members of the Service, the visit aimed to recognize Sagnar-Naa's significant contributions to the development and upkeep of the Tamale Central Prison.
During the visit, DDP Mr. Otsyokpo emphasized the importance of fostering and strengthening the cordial relationship between the Command and the traditional area. He commended Sagnar-Naa for his active involvement in the management of the prison, highlighting his support in improving the prison's facilities, such as cementing the entire prison yard and reconstructing the septic tank.
As a token of appreciation for his selfless leadership and dedication to the well-being of the inmates, the Prison Management presented Sagnar-Naa with a citation and plaque.
In response, Sagnar-Naa Abdulai expressed gratitude for the visit and urged continued teamwork to fulfill their mandate effectively.
Accompanying the Regional Commander were key officials including Chief Superintendent of Prisons Madam Doris Everlove Ameku, Superintendent of Prisons Madam Rose Awude, Deputy Superintendent of Prisons Mr. Francis Weingam, and other staff members.
The courtesy call underscored the importance of collaboration between prison authorities and local leaders in promoting rehabilitation and maintaining order within correctional facilities.
