Marian Amartey, the Head of Business Enablement at Ghana, has been enstooled as the Queen Mother of Asere, Amartse-We Stool in the Ga Traditional Area, bearing the stool name Manye Naa Amorkor Shikafutru I.

The coronation ceremony, a momentous occasion, unfolded on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Bukom Square in Jamestown, . In her inaugural address, Ms Amartey underscored the pressing socio-economic needs of the community and seized the opportunity to unveil her flagship initiative, the ‘Girl Power Project,' aimed at tackling poverty, particularly among young women.

Addressing the gathering, Ms. Amartey expressed deep concern over the pervasive poverty and escalating crime rates in society, attributing these challenges to widespread youth unemployment. She emphasized the necessity for well-structured youth development and empowerment programs, calling for government support at all levels.

Highlighting the plight of girls and young women, Ms Amartey stressed that they bore the brunt of poverty, facing cultural, educational, and employment inequalities from a young age. She asserted that empowering girls through education and resources was crucial for societal progress.

The ‘Girl Power Project,' she elaborated, would employ a comprehensive approach to create opportunities, promote gender equality, enhance self-esteem, provide education, and nurture leadership skills among young girls.

Assuming her role as Queen Mother, Ms Amartey pledged to collaborate closely with community leaders and stakeholders to uplift young girls. She was enstooled in 2023 and formally introduced at the coronation ceremony following the completion of traditional rites and customs.

The event drew the attendance of chiefs, dignitaries from Ga and other states, government officials, and executives from Stanbic Bank Ghana, underscoring the significance of Ms. Amartey's enstoolment and the launch of the ‘Girl Power Project.'
