Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman, the running mate of former President John Dramani Mahama, embarked on a series of engagements in the Central Region, including a courtesy visit to the Oguaa Manhen and a donation to the Muslim community.
During her visit to the Eminstimadze palace, Professor Opoku-Agyeman greeted the Omanhen, enquired about his well-being, and informed him of her presence in the traditional area. She expressed her intention for a formal introduction as the re-nominated running mate for the National Democratic Congress in the 2024 elections. Omanhen Osabarima Kwesi Atta II commended her respect for the stool, elders, and paramountcy, expressing delight in her understanding and respect for the culture.
Professor Opoku-Agyeman later visited the Kotokuraba Central Mosque to donate assorted items to the Muslim community as they observe Ramadan. The donation, an annual activity, underscores her commitment to inclusivity and diversity, fostering solidarity among community members of different faiths.
Addressing the gathering, she highlighted the significance of fasting, emphasizing its blessings for individuals and the nation. She called on regional leaders to promote mutual respect, compassion, and interfaith solidarity, ensuring that individuals of all backgrounds feel valued and supported.
The donated items, including maize, beans, sugar, tea, milk, bottled water, and fruits, were received with gratitude by the representative of the Central Region Chief Imam. The Regional Chief Imam expressed appreciation for the continued support from Professor Opoku-Agyeman and her entourage.
Additionally, Professor Opoku-Agyeman interacted with market women and customers at the Kotokuraba Market, accompanied by regional executives and other dignitaries. The engagement showcased her commitment to engaging with various segments of society and understanding their needs.
