Mr. Abu Kansangbata, former Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, has hailed the nomination of Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman as the National Democratic Congress's (NDC) running mate for the upcoming elections. In a statement released to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Thursday, Mr. Kansangbata, who has a close association with Prof. Naana, praised her exemplary qualities such as integrity, honesty, sincerity, humility, and modesty. He challenged other political parties to nominate women of similar calibre for prominent positions.
Prof. Naana's nomination was officially announced at an event on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, which was attended by numerous key figures from the NDC and other sectors. Her selection marks a historic milestone as she becomes the first female running mate of the NDC, a move that has generated significant enthusiasm both within and outside the party.
Mr. Kansangbata emphasized the importance of this nomination, noting the NDC's status as the largest political party in sub-Saharan Africa and its potential to set a precedent for female political leadership across the region.
