Incidents of violence marred the ongoing parliamentary primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as police had to intervene to prevent further escalation in the Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amafro and Anyaa-Sowutuom constituencies.
At Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amafro, one individual was arrested for attempting to obstruct a delegate from casting her ballot, claiming that her name was not on the register. The situation threatened to disrupt the voting process, leading to police intervention to maintain order.
In Anyaa-Sowutuom, a heated dispute arose between the Nasara Coordinator, Mustapha Osman, and the constituency Women's Organiser, Hajia Hawa, regarding the eligibility of a delegate. The disagreement resulted in a physical altercation, prompting swift action by the Ghana Police Service to prevent further escalation.
Meanwhile, at the Mion constituency voting center, police officers escorted Rashid Goodman out of the voting area to prevent potential violence. Goodman was accused of assaulting the NPP Constituency Chairman, Sule Fuseini Alhassan, a charge he denied during police questioning.
