Narcotics Control Commission seizes significant tramadol haul at Tema Port

In a proactive move against drug trafficking, the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) announced today the interception of a substantial quantity of tramadol capsules and tablets at the Port.

The seizure, conducted on Monday, January 29, 2024, revealed a staggering total of 1,035,000 tablets and capsules of tramadol, with a net weight of 4,734.38 kg.

According to a statement released by NACOC on Tuesday, the intercepted consignment encompassed a variety of tramadol products, notably including 5,000 royal tablets, weighing 225 mg and packed in 51 cartons, 6,000 capsules of Timaking, totalling 90 cartons and weighing 120 mg each, and 6,000 capsules of Tramadol, packed in 40 cartons and also weighing 120 mg each.

This interception, part of the Commission's ongoing mandate, involved thorough examinations of containers passing through the Tema Port.

NACOC further informed that the seized consignment is currently under its custody and will be handed over to the Food and Drug Authority (FDA) for extensive investigations.

In reaffirming its dedication to combating the menace of drug trafficking, NACOC assured the public of its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation from the pernicious effects of illicit drugs.
