The Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) has officially declared its intention to retain Mr Percival Kofi Akpaloo, the Founder of the party, as its flagbearer for the upcoming 2024 General Election.

Mr. Jerry Owusu Appauh, the General Secretary of the LPG, confirmed this decision in an interview with the press on Monday.

According to Mr Appauh, no other member of the party has expressed interest in challenging Mr Akpaloo for the flagbearer position.

As a result, the decision was made to acclaim Mr Akpaloo to lead the party in the December polls.

The official acclamation is scheduled to take place during the party's congress in April.

Speaking on the party's preparations for the elections, Mr Appauh mentioned that the LPG is currently in the process of electing regional and electoral area officers.

These officers will undergo training to mobilize support and secure votes for the party in the upcoming polls.

Expressing the party's vision, Mr Appauh emphasized the need for Ghanaians to consider an alternative to the traditional parties.

He stated, “We are the only liberal Party in Ghana, and we know what the two parties have done so far, so we are just appealing to Ghana to give us the opportunity as liberals to turn things around for the country.”

Highlighting the party's agenda, Mr. Appauh outlined two key programs that the LPG plans to implement if elected.

The first is the “Child Benefit” program, where the government would provide monthly stipends to families and mothers with children to alleviate financial burdens.

The second is an “Unemployment Benefit” policy, which aims to support unemployed youth with monthly stipends for their basic needs.
