The Member of Parliament for Essikado-Ketan Constituency and former Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Joe Ghartey, has extended warm congratulations to Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin on his appointment as the new Majority Leader of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Parliament.
In a statement shared on social media, Hon. Ghartey expressed profound excitement over Hon. Afenyo-Markin's new role, wishing him and his team success in their endeavours
“You were made Deputy Majority Leader, and now you are the Majority Leader. I wish you well. Your meteoric rise is commendable. You are a known warrior, and this gives you the opportunity to go down in history as a great leader,” Hon. Ghartey remarked.
Drawing inspiration from the legacy of Nelson Mandela, Hon. Ghartey highlighted the importance of pursuing peace in leadership. He emphasized that leaders who successfully pursue peace often emerge as wise leaders, and encouraged Hon. Afenyo-Markin to prioritize collaboration over confrontation in his new role.
“In this political environment, sometimes it is difficult to pursue peace. I am not saying for a second that you should compromise or become weak in the belly. All I am saying is to be a man of collaboration, not of confrontation. You said that is your aim, and I am confident that your word will be your bond,” Hon. Ghartey stated.
He concluded by wishing Hon. Afenyo-Markin well and invoking divine guidance in his leadership journey.
