The Eastern Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) along with 33 Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) and their Coordinating Directors have recently affirmed their dedication to duty by signing the 2024 performance contract. The signing ceremony, held in Koforidua, symbolized a collective commitment to fostering improved productivity at both regional and district levels.
Mr. Seth Kwame Acheampong, the Eastern Regional Minister, underscored the significance of the performance contract within the broader Performance Management System (PMS). He stressed that the contract served as a vital tool for setting goals and clarifying expectations, providing a framework for the management and staff of the RCC and the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies.
The Minister emphasized the importance of disseminating contract details within their respective assemblies, ensuring that staff are well-informed about the indicators for achieving set deliverables.
Mr. John A. Donkor, the Chief Director at the RCC, highlighted the history of performance contracting within the Local Government Service, citing past assessments that pinpointed areas necessitating immediate attention.
Mr Ndinga Nborinyi, Dean of the Municipal and District Coordinating Directors in the Eastern Region, expressed confidence in achieving optimal results with the support of MDCEs, staff, and adequate resources.
Mr. Cyril Dzinyanu Xatse, the Head of Human Resources at the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council, articulated his ambition for the region to be ranked among the top performers during contract assessments, emphasizing a commitment to excellence.
Notable Municipal and District Assemblies participating in the event included Birim Central, Asuogyaman, Atiwa East, Denkyembour, Birim South, New Juaben South, Fanteakwa, and Kwahu East Assemblies.
The signing of the 2024 performance contract marks a proactive step towards enhancing accountability, productivity, and overall governance effectiveness within the Eastern Region.
