NPA urges motorists to report fuel station irregularities

The (NPA) has called on motorists to promptly report any suspected cheating at fuel stations, emphasizing the importance of immediate action to investigate and address such concerns.

Mrs. Eunice Budu Nyarko, the Consumer Services Manager of NPA, highlighted the need for consumers to report within 48 hours of fuel purchase to facilitate swift investigations. She assured that timely complaints would be thoroughly investigated to prevent the loss of evidence.

Addressing a cylinder recirculation model (CRM) sensitization event at the Damongo lorry station in the Region, Mrs. Budu Nyarko emphasized that although reports could still be made after 48 hours, prompt action was crucial to gather evidence and ensure appropriate measures are taken.

She underscored the NPA's commitment to protecting the interests of all stakeholders, including consumers and petroleum service providers, by conducting thorough investigations and surveillance of reported stations.

The NPA team engaged with drivers, traders, and stakeholders on CRM and gas safety measures at the Damongo Central Market and lorry station. The sensitization efforts extended to the , where similar exercises were conducted in ahead of the Northern Regional CRM town hall meeting.

During the engagements, concerns were raised by LPG retailers and dealers regarding potential job losses due to CRM implementation. In response, Mr. Obed Kraine Boachie, the Head of Gas, Commercial Regulation of NPA, reassured them that the CRM policy would create more job opportunities within the value chain. He encouraged them to embrace the rollout and avail themselves of the benefits it offers.
