Contractor charged for alleged assault with pinch bar

A 26-year-old contractor, Prince Ayivor, has been brought before the court on charges of allegedly assaulting Tanko Seidu with a pinch bar at the Pakyi District Court.

Ayivor has denied the allegations levelled against him and has been granted bail in the sum of GH¢10,000.00 with two sureties.

Presided over by Madam Dora Nsiah Jackson, the court ordered Ayivor to deposit his with the Court’s registry and scheduled his next appearance for May 2, 2024.

According to Police Chief Inspector Christian Amartey, the victim and complainant, Tanko Seidu, is a resident of Straighter at Trede, while the accused, Prince Ayivor, is a contractor residing at Nkoransah. The incident reportedly occurred on March 1, 2023, around 12:00 pm.

The prosecution detailed that Seidu was returning from a site on a motorbike and parked by the roadside at Trede Four Junction to answer a phone call. Ayivor, who was putting up a structure nearby and had previous issues with Seidu, allegedly confronted him for staring at him.

An altercation ensued, leading Ayivor to allegedly assault Seidu with a pinch bar. Seidu reported the incident to the Trede Police, was issued a police medical form for examination and treatment, and subsequently, Ayivor was arrested and handed over to the police.

Following investigations and obtaining a cautioned statement from Ayivor, he was charged with the offence and brought before the court.

Ayivor’s plea of not guilty sets the stage for further legal proceedings as the court seeks to ascertain the facts surrounding the alleged assault. The case underscores the importance of addressing conflicts peacefully and resorting to legal channels to seek justice.
