The participating teams for the football events (men and women) at the African Games Accra 2023 have been officially confirmed. The CAF Executive Committee has outlined the criteria for qualification, ensuring a competitive field for the upcoming tournament scheduled from 8-24 March 2024 in Accra, Ghana.
In the men's category, the CAF Executive Committee has determined that the eight Quarterfinalists from the TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2023, along with the host country Ghana, will qualify for the African Games. This decision aligns with the age category utilized in the TotalEnergies U-20 AFCON.
The qualified men's teams are Benin, Congo, Gambia, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, South Sudan, Tunisia, and Uganda.
For the women's event, the teams that participated in the fourth qualifying rounds of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Costa Rica 2022 will secure qualification for the African Games Accra 2023. Similar to the men's category, the age criteria from the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup will be applied.
The qualified women's teams include the host Ghana, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, and Uganda.
