Customers of the Tema-based aluminium company, Aluworks Ghana Limited, have expressed dissatisfaction and accused the defunct company of fraud for failing to provide them with roofing sheets despite receiving payment.
Several customers have reported that they paid the company for roofing sheets since March 2021, but the materials have not been delivered. Efforts to follow up and seek refunds have allegedly been met with no response from the company.
One customer, Mr Issah Binney, shared his frustration, stating that his building project has been stalled since 2021, leaving the wood exposed to the elements.
Ms Rebecca Asare, another customer, also expressed her disappointment in the company's lack of response, highlighting the negative impact on her health due to the stress.
The situation has raised concerns as building material prices continue to rise, and customers are calling on the government to intervene through relevant agencies.
The Ghana News Agency investigated the matter and found that the company has not been operating actively for some time. An officer from the company, speaking anonymously, confirmed that customers seeking refunds had their issues referred to the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), the major stakeholder.
The officer assured us that the issues would be resolved and apologized to the affected customers for the inconvenience caused.
During the agency‘s visit to the facility, it was observed that the company's offices were closed and the premises appeared empty.
