Alan Kyerematen, the Founder of the Movement for Change, has made a bold pledge to elevate the Central Region of Ghana into West Africa's financial services epicentre if he assumes the presidency.
Expressing disappointment with the performance of the two main political parties, NPP and NDC, Kyerematen emphasized his commitment to changing the fortunes of the region if entrusted with the presidency.
Asserting that the Central Region, as a former capital of the country, deserves better, Kyerematen vowed to unlock the region's untapped potential by establishing the largest financial services centre in West Africa.
“This will help open up the region to investors. This will be done within two years of assuming office as the President of the Republic,” Kyerematen stated, underscoring his ambitious plans for the region's economic transformation.
In addition to bolstering trade activities and stimulating the region's economy, Kyerematen outlined his vision to position the Central Region as a prominent tourism hub, leveraging its abundance of UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Highlighting the lack of adequate market infrastructure in the region, Kyerematen assured plans for substantial improvements under his presidency, including the establishment of a traders' bank to facilitate financing for small businesses.
“The Traders Market initiative will see market women have soft loans to invest in their businesses. The Bank will specifically be set up for traders since they don't have a bank on their own that serves their interest,” Kyerematen elaborated.
During his engagement with traders across various markets in the region, including Kasoa, Winneba, Agona Swedru, Cape Coast, and Elmina, Kyerematen was met with enthusiasm and optimism. Traders expressed their belief that he represents a beacon of hope for the country's economic revitalization and expressed confidence in his ability to deliver on his promises.
With aspirations to break away from the status quo and offer a fresh approach to governance, Kyerematen's ambitious agenda resonates strongly with the people of the Central Region, who view him as a transformative leader capable of steering the region towards prosperity and progress.
