Ngmongmowuyaa Kwesi Animle VI, the Paramount Chief of the Osudoku Traditional Area, has called on the government to address the deteriorating road conditions in the region, emphasizing the crucial role of good roads in fostering economic growth.
Speaking at the 2023 Osudoku Aadegbor Djehayemi festival held in Osuwem, the Chief highlighted the lack of paved roads in the entire Osudoku Traditional Area.
He stressed that these road conditions have severely hampered tourism and economic activities in the region, given that major feeder roads connect the Eastern, Volta, and parts of the Greater Accra Region.
The festival, themed “Tourism as a Tool for Socioeconomic Development of Osudoku,” provided an opportunity for Ngmongmowuyaa Animle to voice his appeal.
As the President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, he urged the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) to collaborate with the government to initiate road network construction in the area, thereby enhancing tourism.
In response, Mr. George Nkrumah Ansere, Tema Regional Director of GTA, underscored the vital role of roads in promoting tourism.
He affirmed GTA's commitment to providing technical support on tourism matters and enhancing the Aadegbor festival.
The Paramount Chief's appeal serves as a call to action for the government to prioritize road infrastructure development in the Osudoku Traditional Area, recognizing the potential for economic growth and tourism expansion in the region.
