Dr. Prosper Nartey Ogum, Head Coach of Asante Kotoko, will continue leading the team following a crucial stakeholder meeting convened at the Manyhia Palace in Kumasi.
The decision comes amid mounting pressure on the embattled coach to resign, fueled by a disappointing string of results that saw the team plummet from third place to 12th in the Ghana Premier League standings.
In a dramatic turn of events, disgruntled supporters staged a protest at the Adako Jachie training ground, demanding Ogum's resignation. The coach, however, remained steadfast in his position, prompting the urgent meeting at the Manhyia Palace to address the team's performance woes.
Attended by the playing body, technical staff, supporters' leadership, and members of the Interim Management Committee, the meeting was presided over by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Life Patron of the Club.
Addressing the players, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II urged them to rally together and reverse the club's downward trajectory. He emphasized their collective responsibility to the team, stressing that their loyalty lies with him as the patron of the club.
Furthermore, the King challenged the players to demonstrate their capabilities on the field and assured them that if coaching was the issue, appropriate action would be taken.
The meeting concluded on a conciliatory note, with all stakeholders committing to working collaboratively for the betterment of Asante Kotoko, a club with a rich history of 24 league titles.
As the team braces for a challenging fixture against league leaders Samartex 1996 at the Baba Yara Stadium in match week 27, the outcome of the meeting aims to instill unity and determination among the players as they seek to revive their season.
