The Zopelig Daborin Youth Association in the District of the Region has taken a significant step towards community development by commissioning a self-financed bridge on the Dagliga Kongo road.

The newly constructed bridge aims to facilitate human and vehicular movement in the area, addressing longstanding challenges faced by residents.

The Dagliga-Kongo road serves as a crucial link connecting several major communities in the district, including Dagliga, Zanlerigu, Logre, and Kongo, among others, to the district capital Nangodi.

The Zopelig-Daborin section of the road historically faced flooding during the rainy season due to the lack of a bridge.

This impediment made travel difficult for various road users, including traders, schoolchildren, health workers, and , prompting the youth to take the initiative and self-finance the construction of the bridge.

In addition to the bridge, the youth also installed a mechanized borehole to support irrigation in the community.

Addressing the gathering during the bridge's commissioning, Mr. Christopher Telim, the Patron of the youth association, highlighted the bridge as a crucial development project.

He emphasized that the absence of electricity and bushfires were additional challenges, with an appeal to the District Chief Executive, Madam Agnes Anamoo, and the Member of (MP), Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane, to support the community in overcoming these issues.

Mr. Telim also drew attention to the poor condition of major footpaths linking the bridge, especially during the rainy season, calling for government and non-governmental organizations' assistance.

Commending the youth's efforts, Mr. Lamtiig Apanga, a stalwart of the opposing National Democratic Congress (), praised their resilience, unity, and commitment to community development. He urged other youth groups in the district to emulate their example and not solely rely on the government for progress.

Mr. Charles Taleo Ndanbon, the New Patriotic Party's parliamentary candidate for the Constituency, lauded the youth for their hard work, considering it a testament to their determination to change the narrative of development in the area.
