Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, the Volta Regional Minister, has provided reassurance to the flood victims affected by the Akosombo Dam spillage, assuring them of the government's support to alleviate the devastating impact of the floods.
Dr. Letsa revealed that the government had taken action to support the affected individuals, delivering three-speed boats along with various relief items, including mattresses, blankets, life jackets, toiletries, and food items to the victims.
During a visit to the affected communities, the Minister held a debriefing session at the North Tongu District Assembly before proceeding to other areas to assess the extent of the damage and provide hope to the affected people.
The spillage of the Akosombo Dam severely impacted the North, South, and Central Tongu districts. This action was taken to safeguard the turbines and other machines of the dam, resulting in extensive flooding.
Dr. Letsa expressed gratitude to President Akufo-Addo for the intervention and thanked the district chief executives, the chiefs, the affected communities, and all those who have offered support during this challenging time.
He was accompanied by Mr. Seji Saji, the Deputy National NADMO Director, Mr. John-Peter Amewu, the Railway Development Minister, a team from the Volta River Authority, and various other security agencies.
