The Tema West Municipal Assembly (TWMA) has demonstrated its solidarity with the Muslim community in the municipality by presenting essential items to support their one-month-long Ramadan fast. The items, including cartons of Milo, tea leaves, and milk, were handed over to the Muslim community by Ms Anna Adukwei Addo, the Tema West Municipal Chief Executive.
Ms. Addo emphasized that the presentation aimed to foster a spirit of unity, empathy, and compassion among residents, particularly during the sacred month of Ramadan. Stressing the significance of fasting, she highlighted its principles of self-control, sacrifice, humility, compassion, and gratitude.
The items, presented on behalf of President Nana Akufo-Addo, were described as essential in encouraging Muslims to maintain their efforts throughout the fasting period. Ms. Addo expressed the assembly's solidarity with Muslims undertaking the Ramadan fast and prayer, acknowledging the fasting period as a time for self-discipline and spiritual growth.
She urged Muslim leaders to inspire discipline and forgiveness among their followers, emphasizing the importance of promoting peace and unity ahead of the December general elections. Ms. Addo reiterated the significance of peaceful coexistence and non-violence in the political process.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Muslim community, Mr. Mustapha Abubakar, an imam with the Ahmadiyya Mission, stressed the importance of adhering to the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad. He emphasized that following the path set by the Prophet, which prioritizes safeguarding all creatures from harm, would eliminate room for violent activities within Islam.
Mr. Abubakar advised Muslim youth to strictly adhere to the practices of Prophet Muhammad, highlighting that doing so would prevent violence during their lifetime and contribute to fostering a peaceful society.
